(More customer reviews)I bought this based on the earlier reviews and was just transfixed by its raw beauty. This is Townes already looking back on his life with nostalgia -- sad but not bitter. Just sitting there with his guitar on a tacky looking sofa in a depressing hotel room, his voice sounding a bit more tired and harsh than on his CDs, Townes still has the power to transport. He introduces most of the songs with a few words about where and how they were written -- and there's some very interesting material there about his creative process. The DVD is also very helpful for those who want to see hand positions and try to play along. The interviews and covers at the conclusion add dimension to this haunting portrait of an exceptional artist.
