(More customer reviews)This is my favorite episode of the series of the series because it seems the least dependent on sci-fi conventions. It'n not about space adventures; it's about war. It shows the side of the Federation we never see. We see people scarred by war--battles and events too dark to be shown in the positive world of Star Trek. It even ends on one of the most sad notes in the series' history. Its tone set the stage for DS9.
